Construction of New Tashkent under the concept of a “green” city began three years ago. It is the largest urban development project in the country’s history. The first stage provides for the implementation of projects worth $50 billion. It is planned to create 2,000 hectares of green zones and 500 hectares of parks. 150 million square meters of residential and non-residential facilities will be built. Over three years, work worth $2 billion has been completed. Housing, universities, a library and an amphitheater have been built.

During the ceremony, 7 facilities with a total value of $1 billion were put into operation.

Among them are the first phase of the Shark bahori residential complex, road and infrastructure facilities, substation No. 1 “Yangi Toshkent”, a trigeneration station, the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Sohil bogi park and a general education school for 2,000 students.

The trigeneration station, built with the participation of Turkey’s MIMSAN with $73 million in investments, will make it possible to provide centralized heating and cooling to 100,000 households while simultaneously generating electricity. The cost of the project to build the substation and high-voltage power transmission lines, implemented jointly with the Chinese company Haocheng Industry Group, is $95 million.

In addition, 18 km of roads have been built, 13 km of sewer networks and 4.5 km of drinking water supply networks have been laid. Along the 10-km bank of the Chirchik River in the Sohil bogi park, pedestrian and bicycle paths have been arranged. About 7,000 apartments have been built in the first phase of construction of the Shark bahori residential complex.

With the participation of partners from China, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and other countries, construction has begun on another 10 major projects with a total value of $2.5 billion.

One of them is the Deep Tech Park industrial zone, specializing in the production of high-tech products and semiconductors. $320 million will be allocated for its creation. In the future, projects worth a total of $1.7 billion are planned to be located here.

With the participation of Finland’s MariMatic, a project will be implemented for waste collection and the production of “green” electricity from it. In addition, photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 20 megawatts are planned to be installed on the roofs of apartment buildings.

To connect New Tashkent with the capital, a bridge, an overpass and a 10-km road will be built between Temur Malik Street and the 4R12 highway. Another project will be the construction of an underground parking lot connected to metro stations.

In the Metropolis business city, with a total area of more than 818,000 sq. m, offices, a hotel, residential buildings and service-sector facilities will be located. 500,000 sq. m of the total area is allocated for business infrastructure.

In addition, the Silk City, Mavj and Marjon residential complexes, as well as New Tashkent’s central hospital with 120 beds, will be built.

The head of state emphasized that these projects will contribute to New Tashkent’s emergence as a center of business, tourism and culture. He expressed gratitude to builders, engineers, designers and foreign partners involved in the creation of the city.
