The Petersburg Quarter will appear in the New Tashkent
The St. Petersburg Quarter is planned to be built in the new Tashkent using elements of architecture and attractions of St. Petersburg. He will adjoin the eastern part of the capital. The start of construction is scheduled for 2026.
On the territory of the new Tashkent, the construction of the St. Petersburg Quarter is planned. This was reported by the press service of the Hokimiyat of the capital.
On June 12, Khokim of Shavkat Umurzakov met with a delegation of St. Petersburg, headed by Vice-Governor Nikolai Linchenko. Negotiations were devoted to the prospects for cooperation in the field of urban planning and the development of urban infrastructure.
The parties paid special attention to the project to create the “St. Petersburg quarter” in the territory of the city under construction - living and public space, which “symbolizes the strengthening of interregional partnerships.”
“The parties expressed a mutual interest in the implementation of joint initiatives aimed at developing a comfortable urban environment, the introduction of advanced architectural decisions and improving the quality of life of the population,” the report said.
The vice-governor of St. Petersburg Nikolai Linchenko said that he took part in the inspection of the territory of the future quarter. According to him, the project will become part of a new city adjacent to the eastern part of the “old” Tashkent, and will be implemented as part of a concept developed jointly with the Uzbek side.
“Now, together with colleagues from Uzbekistan, we continue to finalize the project on an already developed concept. We plan that when building the quarter, recognizable elements of unique architecture and attractions of St. Petersburg will be used. The street-road network on the territory of the quarter of St. Petersburg will be created by an investor. The start of construction is scheduled for 2026, ”Linchenko said.
He recalled that the initiative to attract specialists in St. Petersburg to create a quarter was nominated at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2023. Since then, the parties have formed a working group and conduct close interaction.
The project is implemented in cooperation with the Directorate for the construction of a new Tashkent under the office of ministers.
In March 2023, the president laid a capsule marked by the start of the construction of the new Tashkent. It is expected that the city will accommodate 1 million people. He noted that state institutions, universities and other facilities will be located here.
On the site of the buildings, where ministries and departments are now located, it is planned to open hotels, trade and services. “Tashkent will turn into a modern center of tourism and business,” the head of state said then.
The newspaper.uz published a large interview with the chief architect of the project, New Tashkent Saidazim Sharipov, who told how much the project will cost, whether the capital will have enough water, what is being done to improve the environmental situation and what will be the architect of the city. He also told where the boundaries of the new city are held, what will be architecture, ecology, energy and transport systems.
